Children are Forever - Portage County
If you have found your way here, you have likely been instucted that you are required to attend the "Children are Forever" Seminar for Parents. This seminar is required by The Portage County Court of Common Pleas, Division of Domestic Relations, with the support of the Portage County Bar Association, and will be presented by Dr. Dixie Benshoff.
Divorce is a stressful experience for both parents and children.
The purpose of this seminar is to show parents how to help their children cope with divorce.
This is an educational seminar and not intended to provide psychological or legal advice.
Who Must Attend:
By local rule of The Portage County Court of Common Pleas, Division of Domestic Relations, all parents with minor children who are parties to a divorce, dissolution, or legal separation action must attend within 45 days of filing. At the conclusion of the seminar a record of attendance will be submitted to the court.

Do not bring children or guests to the seminar.

Only registered participants will be admitted.

Bailiff reserves the right to refuse admittance or participation to anyone for inappropriate dress or conduct.

You must be present and attentive for the entire program or you will be asked to repeat it.

What to Expect When You Call:
1. Your call will be answered between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. You may leave a message at any other time or between noon and 1:00.
2. You must spell your first and last
names distinctly.
3. You must leave your court case
number when registering.
4. You must leave a reliable telephone
number, however DO NOT expect a call back.
5. If there is no temporary protection
order or civil protection order you
will automatically be registered
for the next available seminar. The
date of the seminar will be
included in the message.
6. If you are not registered you will
not be admitted to the seminar.
Time:
The seminar is held on the third Saturday of each month. Please arrive by 8:30 a.m. to sign in. The seminar runs from 9:00 a.m. until noon. Late arrivals will NOT be admitted.
